“What an amazing experience the Dubrikato intensives are! I’ve been in 2 and loved them both! I had all the feels but the best was performing it and listening to the crowd. AMAZEBALLS! I LOVE LOVE LOVE the instructors and love learning different techniques! 110% something you’d be crazy to miss!

Saturday 30th November

Stacey – Thematic Bellydance
(click for video)
This is my absolute favourite type of bellydance, I love to tell a story and bring my audience on a journey. In short, thematic bellydance to me is the act of creating belly dance compositions around a story/narrative or pantomime with the dancer using various props, lighting or staging to enhance the interpretation. In our Thematic Bellydance workshop, we will look at frameworks, ways of portraying narratives, conflicts and resolutions through non verbal communication (i.e. Bellydance) and the use of props, lighting and staging to tell your story. This is a collaborative workshop which will have some technique based on emotive expression in the body. Level: All Levels

15:15-17:15
Violet – WTF is Fly Fusion?
An Introduction to the Slow Vocabulary
(click for video)
Fly Fusion is a fresh format for fusion belly dance group improvisation. What is it? How does it work? What’s a Pyramid and Pillar? How does it look so choreographed? In this workshop, we will begin working within the Fly Fusion slow vocabulary. Learn the Silk Maya, variations, a combination, and the foundations of how it all works! Prepare to learn, laugh, and have an excellent time. Many dancers claim this style “feels good on the body.” Come see for yourself! All levels are welcome!
