What is Solaris Strong Motion?
The Strong Motion initiate programme is a 60-day remote-training system based on Biomechanics Muscle Energy Techniques plus strength and movement work, hip and shimmy drills and mindset / habit tips.
It’s tailor-made to empower people who love to dance get strong and flexible hips and a killer shimmy AND start to create the pain-free practice habit of their dreams!
I have been studying with Biomechanics Education and am working towards becoming a certified Biomechanics Coach and L4 PT.
This system is different to conventional training methods in that we work through a series of evaluations to assess for imbalances in the body and Muscle Energy Techniques designed to release and re-activate muscles that are not functioning correctly, either due to our lifestyles or perhaps inefficient movement patterns trained into the body as a result of previous injury.
Whilst these techniques are not commonly known outside of clinical practice, they are not new - this specific programme has been in research for over 25 years and has been tested on thousands of people from the general public to Olympic athletes. I think it's the first time it's been used on belly dancers though so I'm really excited to see what we can achieve!

What about shoulders, upper body posture and arm undulations?
In this system, we begin in the pelvis as issues here can have effects further up and down the chain. After a series of assessments and potentially release and strengthening work in the pelvic area, we can move on to other areas of the body.
By focussing our dance technique practice on hip isolations and shimmies we can see how this movement practice can improve our dancing. As we develop and begin to include other areas of the body, we can also work on a variety of dance technique.
