Taking control of your aches and pains

One thing that’s really struck me recently is how achievable it can be to take control of your aches and pains.

By “achievable” I don't mean “easy” - it requires some determination, perseverance and acceptance that it may not be a smooth journey.

Taking control of your aches and pains is the journey of understanding that YOU have the power to overcome whatever is holding you back.

It doesn't need to be a massive undertaking - little shifts can be plenty if you are already busy and overwhelmed. Small incremental changes are also much better for sticking to healthier habits long-term and becoming the strong, energised person you know you can be!

I’ve had so many people tell me amazing stories about movement and mindset work changing their lives -

- My Dad’s friend who suffered through his working life yet has been without pain since he retired and took up Pilates - he equates it to the Pilates but I’m certain the retirement from the stressful City job helped too!

- The business acquaintance who discovered a massive emotional release when she took up a movement practice.

- A client who told me recently she feels like her hip now has “permission to not be in pain.”

Pain is 100% caused by the brain and is a signal that something is not right - it could be biomechanical or it could be related to other life stressors - job, family, home… Or a combination of things!

Usually you can’t, or don’t want to, quit the stressful job or abandon your family but even just working out what is within your control and taking bite-size steps to make improvements in your life can cause a massive mindset shift that in itself can help to relieve pain.

In taking responsibility for your own health you are making a commitment to give yourself the freedom to move fearlessly and joyfully through life.
