“I have to move my husband too!”
Do you actually WANT to have a home movement practice?
This thought was sparked by a comment from a workshop participant earlier this year.
We were discussing ways to remove some of the resistance to doing exercise - one of my fave tips is “prepare your environment.”
So this means either, if you can, having a dedicated space at home, no matter how small, ready to move in. Or if that is not possible, know exactly how you are going to do a very quick furniture shift to create a little space, and make that part of the routine!
So as we discussed this in my workshop, one of the participants said,
”I have to move my husband too!”
(This cued understanding giggles from the rest of the participants…) I asked if he would mind being moved? Perhaps part of the process of “preparing your environment” is to let your family members know that you need the space and time each day to take care of your body (and perhaps they want to join in too?)
The participant said that hubby would have no problem moving and would be encouraging of what she was doing, but she still felt resistance to asking him.
So my question was… Do you actually want a home practice?
Many people love the flexibility of working out at home but it’s not for everyone!
Is getting out of the house and taking a live class better for you?
I’m passionate about getting you moving in whatever way works for you! If exercising at home doesn’t work for you, don’t do it!!
Go for a walk, a run, join a class, jump in the sea!
It is important to find what works for you and then do it.
What works best for you? Home practice or out of the house?
Or both! let me know!!!
